Captain's Beds
A captain's bed is a kind of simplified bed that provides support to the mattress without a bed spring. Typically, captain's beds are similar to what you would call a platform bed; they basically just provide a platform on which the mattress can be placed without an underlying box spring or any other kind of spring assembly. This makes a captain bed one of the simplest types of beds to set up. Captain beds are also one of the firmest beds that you can choose from, with the feel of captain's beds being mostly dependent on the mattress that you choose to buy, and captain's beds tend to work very well as captain day beds (beds that you can sit on during the day) because of this same firmness that they have as a result of not having the mattress placed on top of springs.
It is easy to put together a diy captains bed as it is mainly just a raised platform. You can get captain's beds in all kinds of materials, but most tend to be made of wood such as in the case of an oak captain's bed. Captain's beds come in the full range of bed sizes from twin captain beds to the full size captain's bed, queen captain's bed (oak queen captain's bed) or king size captain's bed. It is often a good idea to go with the largest size of captain's bed that you can fit in the space that you have - even if you are sleeping by yourself you should try to get at least a full size captain bed (full captain bed) as captain's beds usually do not have rails and it can be easy to flip over and fall out of smaller captain's beds.
Why do people choose to sleep in captain's beds? Some people enjoy the extra firmness of captain's beds and the fact that they are easy to make use of during the day as day beds. Other people like the simplicity of the design of captain's beds and how they are easy to set up in any kind of room. There is also something to be said for the appearance of captain's beds and how they can contribute to a kind of modern and stark minimalist aesthetic, or be designed to look warm - because the design of captain's beds is so simple they can be used in a wide variety of decoration schemes.
